Of Course I Recommend Apple

Apple did something amazing in the technological arena. Apple decided it wanted to be a player in the mainstream market and it went about this by analyzing what the public does and wanted to do with technology. It took this knowledge and integrated this functionality into Mac OSX and iOS such that they are intuitive and efficient.

Since Apple products are designed for the majority, when the majority asks for my opinion of what computer or phone they should get, my answer has always been Apple products. This has led some to label me as an Apple fanboy. But I have to ask, why? For the general public, the best answer is an Apple product. I am simply answering truthfully.

When I got my iMac, I plugged it into the wall and it was a fully functional computer. I have never had a computer that worked immediately out of the box. I remember the days when I had to connect to the internet to download drivers for my wireless card so that I could connect to the internet. Does that kind of circular logic make sense to you?

I have not used Windows 7 yet, but back in 98 and XP days, it was just a matter of time until your Windows install became unusable. I have performed the installation for Windows approximately 50 times throughout my life. Linux is even more ridiculous; without making any changes my kernel would become corrupt and I could not even log in to diagnose the problem. Aside from the upgrades to snow leopard and lion, I have never performed any installation of MacOS.

I have never had any questions about how to use my iPhone. When I use an Android phone, I always have trouble trying to find a list of installed applications. All Android phones are different but Nexus phones have two buttons with an icon resembling a house and I am not sure what either of them do. There's a back button and it never functions the way I expect it to. My iPhone has one button that teases you into pressing it and when you do it brings you to the home screen, which has everything you will need to use.

I know that if I took the time to learn to use the other products, I can use them as or more effectively than my iPhone. However, if a technical user, such as myself, cannot understand how a piece of technology works quickly, I cannot expect a non-technical user to have an easy time either. So, when the general public asks what they should buy and I want them to have the best user experience possible, I am going to recommend Apple products. How does that reasoning make me a fanboy?

  1. This has nothing to do with your blog entry... but I have been patiently waiting for another blog entry. I think it's been about time since we have no idea what your thoughts are anymore!

Related to this blog entry, I would like to say that I am grr at Apple because they stopped supporting my Ipod Touch 2nd Generation and apps are upgrading themselves and can now not run on my touch anymore :( It makes me angry and sad all at the same time.
